Ms. Dawson was born and raised in Boston Massachusetts. She received her undergraduate degree in Social Work from Providence College in Rhode Island and worked as a social worker in rural Alabama and urban locations in Connecticut for a number of years. She eventually turned her passion for books and technology into her profession by obtaining a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of South Carolina. She has worked in both public and school libraries, spending the last 18 years in CMS. Prior to coming to Bailey, Ms. Dawson was the Media Coordinator at JM Alexander, Davidson IB, and Jay M Robinson and has served as the Instructional Curriculum Specialist for CMS Media Services. In 2009 she received her NC School Administrator license from Gardner-Webb University. Ms. Dawson is a National Board certified teacher, received the Gertrude Coward Award for Outstanding Media Specialist in CMS, and was named a Humanities Fellow in Language Arts and Social Studies by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Ms. Dawson is a member of the American Association of School Librarians, the North Carolina Association of School Librarians, and the North Carolina Technology in Education Society. Ms Dawson's focus is integrating Information and Technology opportunities into the curriculum by collaborating with teachers and promoting reading.

When she is not at Bailey, Ms. Dawson enjoys cheering for the Boston Red Sox, NC State Wolfpack and the UCONN Huskies. She also spends a lot of time reading the latest Middle School releases in print and online. Ask her about her favorites.
